Buying Assistant - NL
Location: Rijnlanderweg 766, Unit F, Hoofddorp
Reports to: Buying Director
SIAN Wholesale Ltd is one of the largest distributors of FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) within the UK. This role requires the candidate to manage supplier relations, identify opportunities, reduce costs and create the best offers in the market.
Duties will include:
- Manage supplier relations, develop alternative suppliers and gain awareness of the current marketplace.
- Evaluate supplier offers to identify the best deals in the market and create offers for the buying team to review.
- Work with the sales team to understand stock requirements, and share any information they might need with regards to languages, ingredients, country of origins etc.
- Raise Purchase Orders and ensure all orders are delivered in line with expectations, staying on top of the supply chain and communicating to the relevant parties any deviations from expected delivery dates.
- Book in the Purchase Orders, updating diaries, NAV & operations to stay in front of deliveries.
- Data Integrity; Quality Control description, barcodes and ensure all information is correct & updated into the system i.e., price, pallet qty etc.
- Run credit search & commons sense due diligence on new suppliers before placing an order and entering their details on NAV.
- Create daily stocklists for the trade team.
- Create daily grand master for the buying team to identify over sold items.
- Support Goods In team with any queries they may have (barcodes issues, product damage, incorrect expire date etc) and liaise with the sales rep and/or Buying Director in order to reach a solution.
- Undertake additional duties as may be assigned to you from time to time from management.
The successful candidate will:
- Be great at prioritising and working to strict deadlines.
- Have strong attention to detail and understanding of analysing data.
- Have strong excel skills and experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Be adaptable, willing & able to learn.
- Be an excellent communicator and team player.
Additional requirements:
- A positive attitude and flexible approach to the role is required.
- Previous experience of working in a busy office would be advantageous.
- Excellent telephone manner and note-taking.
- Microsoft Dynamics NAV experience would be a bonus.
